Bobber

Not A Bobber Part 3

Again, I'm only dissing bikes that were found labeled as Bobbers that I think shouldn't be. Photos were lifted for the purposes of education and clarification of course.

Bobber. I'm really digging this '62.

Not a Bobber Lots of dudes call this Old School, but until recently, this type of bike never existed. They might be fine for an old Hot Rod or if you're parading in a clown costume , but sorry folks, Red Wheels and White Walls are cornball on bikes.

Bobber. Obvious stolen picture.

Not a Bobber. For some reason many dudes think white walls make it a Bobber. I'd call this a custom, and a fugly one at that.

It's likely a touchy subject and just my opinion so, have I pissed anyone off, will I loses any readers?

Whitewalls on motorcycles never appealed to me. In fact, couldn't even stomach RWLs on my old Dunlop Elite IIs.

Maybe something like a narrow *red* stripe on the tire would work.

Thing is, whitewalls on red wheels along with flat black paint has gotten old like a Farrah Fawcett hairstyle.

That said, one of my favorite Harleys was the '77 FXS:

Flat black by itself, is fine.

Flat Black with Reds and Whites... like it or not, overdone, over and out.

I agree with you , it makes me mad every bike is a chuffing bobber, even the custom magazines call everything a bobber. Five years ago if you said bobber people would look at you like some sort of freak, you know what will be next, everything will be a digger! Cheers Rob.

"bobber" isnt just a term for the bikes built back in the day...if you cut up your fender and do some weight reduction...what you have is a bobber. No matter what the year the bike is. Now as far as fat white wall tires go...it gives a taste of nostalgia although no there not "OL SKOOL" ..and ape hangers are for cruisin..yes a correct "bobber" will have drag bars..but nothing wrong with ones personal taste..i like a nice set of apes..dont be a hater ;)
